Life Is Beautiful is Mama’s autobiography.
About ten years ago, after the 100th birthday of her husband Beato, Mama started to make a compilation of her life story. She would write some notes, and sometimes she would ask one of her grandchildren in Kalibo to write for her as she told her story.
When his son Bavi visited Kalibo in 2011, Mama showed him the manuscripts – both hand written and type written. Bavi got copies of the notes and brought them back to Toronto. After some months of procrastinating, Bavi finally decided to start stitching the story together during the Christmas break of 2011. He finished the final draft on March 20, 2012.
The original plan was to make photocopies for distribution on Mama’s 95th birthday anniversary. However, her son Guidon decided to make it better. With the help of Mama’s nephew Hagbong who operates Makarius PrintMasters, they produced 100 copies of the beautiful printed and bound booklet, in four days!. All copies of the booklet was snapped up before Mama’s 95th birthday celebration was over.
